The route is planned, the hotels are booked and your bag is moved every day, but no group and no guide sets the pace. You leave when you like, stop where you like and ride each stage on your own schedule.

What we do sits out of sight: the accommodation, the daily luggage transfer, the GPS route in the navigation app and a support line that is open around the clock. The freedom of a trip you planned yourself, without the planning.

How challenging are your tours?

Every tour carries a fitness rating from 1 to 5:

Short, flat days on cycle paths, fine for anyone who rides now and then
Flat to gently rolling, 50–70 km a day, comfortable for regular leisure riders
Longer days or some hills, best with a little training
Sustained distance and climbing for fit cyclists
Mountain terrain for experienced riders

Sweden sits at the easy end. The Sydkustleden is rated 1; the Kattegattleden, Sydostleden and Vänerleden are rated 2 for one or two longer days, and so is the Göta Canal tour, for its two days round Lake Vättern. An e-bike softens any of them.

Swedish coastal hotels are small and sell out early, so we book from a vetted list in each town instead of promising one property months ahead. You get the exact names the moment your booking is confirmed.

Our routes mix asphalt cycle paths, gravel towpaths and quiet country roads, so:

Trekking bike: the ideal machine, with wider tyres, mudguards and a rack
E-bike: suits all our routes and takes the sting out of coastal headwinds
Leave road and mountain bikes home; the first struggles on the canal gravel, the second is more than you need

Do you offer bike rentals?

Yes.

E-bikes and comfortable trekking bikes come from local partners, brought to your first hotel and picked up at your last, so a one-way route costs you no extra logistics. Each bike has a lock, a pannier and a repair kit; helmets and child seats on request.

Tell us your height at booking and the bike is sized before you arrive.

Showers pass quickly on the Swedish coast and shelter is never far. You can look at accurate weather forecasts before each leg of your trip at AccuWeather.

A light rain jacket and mudguards cover a normal day. If the wind or rain is more than that, one call to our support line and we shorten the stage or find another way to your next hotel.

How far in advance should I book?

How do I get to the starting point of my tour?

Every route starts at a railway station:

Kattegattleden and Sydkustleden: fly to Copenhagen; direct trains cross the Öresund to Malmö in twenty minutes and reach Helsingborg in just over an hour, with connections on to Simrishamn
Vänerleden: fly to Gothenburg and take the train to Karlstad; Gothenburg is also where the Kattegattleden finishes
Göta Canal and Sydostleden: fly to Stockholm for the train to Töreboda, and to Copenhagen or Stockholm for Växjö

What if I run into problems during my trip?

Our support line is open 24 hours a day for the length of your tour. Sweden is a well-organised country with English spoken everywhere, a bike shop in every town on our routes and 112 as the single emergency number.

A puncture is fixed with the kit on your bike; anything bigger, one call and we rearrange the day.

How does luggage transfer work?

Leave your bag at reception before you ride out; a local transfer partner drives it to your next hotel while you cycle, and it is waiting when you arrive.

You carry only what the day needs. One bag per person is included on every Swedish tour.

Are these tours suitable for children?

Accepted Answer

The Sydkustleden, and the towpath days of the Göta Canal tour, are flat, car-free and short enough for families with teenagers who already ride comfortably. We recommend 14 and above on the self-guided format; for younger children, ask us about shorter stages and a support vehicle.

Can I extend my trip?

Accepted Answer

Two ways. Add extra nights at either end, and Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm all deserve a day off the bike; we book them into the same trip.

Or join two routes: the Sydostleden finishes in Ystad, on the first stage of the Sydkustleden, so the two run together as one ride of around ten nights from the Småland lakes to Helsingborg.

Can I bring my own bike?

You can. Regional trains take bikes and every route starts at a railway station, so a bike box on the flight gets you to the start without a hire.
