What’s included in the price?
Carefully selected 3- and 4-star hotels, guesthouses, and B&Bs, all with private en-suite rooms and breakfast included. Expect comfortable, well-appointed rooms with attentive hospitality, typically in convenient and scenic locations — some properties also offer on-site dining.
Skåne is the part of Sweden that looks like Denmark: flat, farmed, edged with beaches. The Sydkustleden runs along the bottom of it from the Baltic at Simrishamn to the Öresund at Helsingborg, the third of the country's national cycle routes, opened in 2019 and the easiest week we sell.
What it lacks in climbs it makes up in places. Ales Stenar, a stone ship on a clifftop. Ystad's half-timbered streets. Smygehuk, the country's southernmost point. Malmö, arrived at along its own beach. Uppåkra, the largest Iron Age settlement in Scandinavia. The citadel of Landskrona and the island of Ven, where Tycho Brahe mapped the sky.
Five riding days cover 232 km, never more than 54 km a day, on cycle paths, small coastal roads and the farm lanes of the Söderslätt plain. A trekking bike is enough for all of it; an e-bike turns a headwind off the Öresund into nothing at all.
Hotels are booked, luggage travels ahead of you, the bike is included and the route lives on your phone.
Ride it as a first cycling holiday, a family week with teenagers, or a gentle warm-up before a longer Swedish summer.
And finish with an island and a castle: Ven on the last morning, and Helsingør with Hamlet's Kronborg a twenty-minute ferry from the last hotel.
